Top Hotels Near Ice Castles, Lincoln NH

There are many reasons to come join us at The Mountain Club on Loon in the wintertime, not least (and this basically goes without saying) the world-class skiing and snowboarding available within easy reach of our slopeside, ski-in/ski-out lodgings on the flanks of Loon Mountain.

But skiing and riding are far from the only fabulous winter activities and attractions at your disposal on a getaway at The Mountain Club this time of year. Your guest room or suite also puts you mere minutes away from one of the foremost seasonal attractions in the White Mountains: the New Hampshire Ice Castles.

Introducing the Ice Castles

Located at 24 Clark Farm Road in North Woodstock, only four miles or so away from The Mountain Club on Loon, New Hampshire’s Ice Castles are one of numerous locations for this beloved installation. Other Ice Castles can be found from Wisconsin to Colorado.

The glazed-over wonderland, which includes explorable ice slides, archways, caves, crawl tunnels, and more, is the brainchild of Brent Christensen, who made his first ice cave in the yard of his Utah home to delight his kids.

That playscape came to be an honest-to-goodness neighorhood attraction known as the Ice Castle—and thus the idea for a commercial attraction was hatched.

Attractions at the New Hampshire Ice Castles

The marvelous frozen sculptures of the Ice Castles themselves are the main draw, of course, but there are other delights to be had here. Wander the illuminated path of the Mystic Forest Light Walk, belly up to the bar of the Polar Pub, and step into the storybook scene of the Winter Fairy Village.

You and the gang can also go snow tubing on a groomed hill here, or take in a sleigh ride.
