Loon Mountain Trail Expansion Updates 2023
Here at The Mountain Club on Loon, we couldn’t be more excited about the major expansion set to be unveiled at the Loon Mountain Resort this winter—and we invite you to be among the first skiers and riders to experience the upgrade with the perfect slopeside accommodations at our property.
One of the three peaks at the resort, South Peak, has been significantly expanded, and it won’t be long before the start of the winter 2023/2024 season and your chance to take advantage of the project…
The South Peak Expansion at Loon Mountain
Along with North Peak and Loon Peak, South Peak helps anchor the world-class outdoor recreation and snowsports that Loon Mountain—among New England’s premier ski resorts—offers.
And now it’s even better, thanks to the addition of 11 brand-new trails and some 30 new skiable acres (bringing Loon Mountain’s total to more than 400 acres). Those freshly blessed South Peak trails, which include a pair of tree-skiing zones, are primarily Green Level, with the rest classed as More Difficult. They thus offer plenty of new opportunities for beginner-level skiers and snowboarders to learn the ropes.
The South Peak trails will be serviced by a new four-place Loon chairlift, too: a Doppelmayr Aplensatr 4-CLF model called Timbertown Quad. This increases the number of lifts at Loon Mountain to an impressive 13.
The South Peak expansion at Loon Mountain also comes with newly installed fully automated and semi-automated snowmaking, which’ll be underway on six of the new trails this upcoming winter season; the rest of the snowmaking installation will be finished up by fall next year.

Enjoy Loon Mountain Resort on a Pampered Slopeside Stay at The Mountain Club on Loon
Loon Mountain boasts the most vertical of any Granite State ski resort at 2,190 feet, and also lays claim to New Hampshire’s one and only Superpipe. Throw in six terrain parks, a Ski & Snowboard School, and plenty of snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, tubing, and fat-biking opportunities, and the South Peak expansion “merely” makes one of the finest snowsports destinations in the Northeast that much more enticing.
And, of course, Loon Mountain’s as thrilling in the summertime as in the winter. But given the flakes are shortly going to start flying, we’re in full-on snow-play-anticipation mode.
