Family Friendly Hotel Near Whale’s Tale Water Park

Summer is almost officially here; its friendly weather already is. Few things define this warm, sunny time of year as much as a refreshing dip, and as a well-taken-care-of guest of ours here at the Mountain Club on Loon you’ve got no shortage of options for doing so.

Besides our very own indoor and outdoor swimming pools and the easy access to natural swimmable water bodies such as Echo Lake in Franconia Notch State Park, you’ve got one of the great waterparks of New England at your disposal, too: Whale’s Tale!

Whale’s Tale Waterpark

Ranked among the top waterparks in the country on TripAdvisor, Whale’s Tale lies less than 15 minutes from the Mountain Club on Loon, making it a fantastic family destination on a summer getaway at our decked-out White Mountain hotel. The facility has been a summertime magnet for locals and out-of-towners alike for more than three decades.

You’ll have the full gamut of aquatic recreation at your fingertips at this much-loved liquid playground, from leisurely soaks to thrilling high-speed slides and plunges.

Whale’s Tale Waterpark boasts the only wave pool in the White Mountains: Willie’s Wild Waves, the place to be on a summer afternoon. There’s also the R&R paradise of Castaway Cove, the 85-foot heated pool of which comes edged by a trio of hot tubs; you can rent a private cabana here for the ultimate poolside luxury.

The pace is quite a bit quicker at some of Whale’s Tale Waterpark’s other go-to attractions, including the dual racing slides of the Plunge (with speeds of up to 40 miles per hour), the 430-foot course of Downpour, and the exhilarating quarterpipes of the Banzai Pipeline.

When hunger draws you out of the pool and off the twisty flumes, satisfy your appetite at one of the on-site waterpark eateries: Porthole Pizzeria, Harborside Restaurant, or Oasis Beach Bar & Grille.
