Best Hotels Near New Hampshire Ice Castles

The ski/snowboard slopes, terrain parks, tubing center, and skating rink makes Loon Mountain a genuine winter wonderland, with The Mountain Club on Loon your luxurious, family-friendly home base—the only ski-out hotel in New Hampshire.

But the ski area at our doorstep isn’t the only winter wonderland our Mountain Club on Loon guests have easy access to this time of year. You’re also just a 15-minute drive or so from a singular all-ages destination: the Ice Castles!

The New Hampshire Ice Castles

Ice Castles is a seasonal attraction located in only six cities on the continent: Dillon, Colorado; Excelsior, Minnesota; Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; Midway, Utah; Edmonton, Canada; and—just across the Pemigewasset River from Loon Mountain—North Woodstock, New Hampshire.

Here off Clark Farm Road you’ll find a glittering, frosted paradise that takes months to prepare: an LED-lit realm of ice slides, ice towers, ice archways, ice tunnels, and ice canyons, all yours to explore within shouting distance of your slopeside room, studio, or suite here at The Mountain Club on Loon. Founder Brent Christensen first constructed ice caves for his kids, a wintry playground that soon drew fans from across his Utah neighborhood and which laid the foundation for the Ice Castles experience.

Besides the extraordinary icicled dreamscape itself—populated, mind you, by Snow Princesses—Ice Castles will be debuting a new attraction this year: horse-drawn sleigh rides through the snowy riverside woods outside.
