Best Hotel for ’80s Day Skiing on Loon Mountain

Do you pine for the good old days of spandex-heavy fashion, big hair, Flying V guitars, and enormous boom boxes? Or were you not even born in that over-the-top decade of the ‘80s, yet you find yourself perversely fascinated by its pop culture and singular vibe?

Also—do you like skiing and snowboarding?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above, we strongly suggest you come stay with us here at The Mountain Club on Loon the first weekend in April, when you’ll get to enjoy the truly legendary ‘80s Day celebration on the slopes of Loon Mountain.

Celebrating the 1980s (and Spring) in the White Mountains

Loon Mountain calls ‘80s Day, which goes down Saturday, April 6th this year, “a complete all-mountain throwback party,” and it’s really something to witness—and not just witness but participate in wholeheartedly. This is the ninth annual edition of this one-of-a-kind slopeside bash, which also doubles as a big old welcome to springtime.

Don your very best ‘80s garb—think bright colors and lots of accessories—and head for Loon Mountain from a perch right below the slopes here at The Mountain Club on Loon. A creatively chosen and exuberantly worn outfit might just land you top honors at the Most Excellent Costume Contest, an all-ages highlight of ‘80s Day.

Throughout the grounds, indoors and out, you’ll find DJs spinning some appropriate tunes to get you in the time-travel mood. Come 2 PM, the whole shebang climaxes with a concert in the ‘80s Day Tent by the cover band Fast Times, the members of which put their all into evoking this sonically and sartorially special decade. (You can rock out with the rest of the crowd by showing your lift ticket or season pass at the door or paying a mere 10 bucks.)

All this ‘80s glory goes down amid the everyday attractions of Loon Mountain, which include some of the most popular ski and snowboard runs in New Hampshire.
