Flume Gorge

Rt. 3, Lincoln 745-8391. A SPECTACULAR WALK through a natural chasm take you from the Flume Visitor Center on wide gravel paths and wooden walkways through covered bridges, past waterfalls, and through the 800 ft. long forge with its sheer 90 ft. walls. Scenic pools, glacial boulders, mountain views. Free 15 min. introductory movie on Franconia Notch State Park at visitor Center. RATES: $6 adult; $3 children; under 6 free. SEASON: mid-May to end of Oct. (weather permitting)

Franconia Notch State Park

Rt. 3, Lincoln 745-8391. FRANCONIA NOTCH STATE PARK is home of the Old Man of the Mountains. Set 1200 feet above Profile Lake on a sheer cliff in Franconia Notch State Park is this natural stone profile, the symbol for New Hampshire. Also in the Park: the Flume, Echo Lake, The Basin (a deep glacial pothole), Cannon Aerial Tramway and Lafayette Campground. RATES: No charge to enter the park. SEASON: Year-round.


Franconia Soaring Center

Rt. 116, Franconia 823-8881. EXPERIENCE THE PUREST FORM OF FLIGHT as you soar above the White Mountains in the area's only sailplanes on a flight of spectacular peace and beauty. The location affords the most dynamic soaring conditions in the Northeast. Scenic flights, rentals, instruction, view area with picnic tables. All pilots federally licensed. Hobo Railroad

Loon Mountain
Rt. 112, Lincoln 745-8111. FUN AND ADVENTURE from top to bottom! Loon's scenic summit skyride whisks you to the summit to daily lumberjack shows, glacial caves, nature programs, the "Mountain Man", summit playground, shopping and dining. Lost River Reservation
Lost River Rd., N. Woodstock 745-8031. TOUR LOST RIVER GORGE on boardwalks, following the river as it appears and disappears among the chaotic jumble of glacially scattered boulders. Clamber about the Hall of Ships, stand under Guillotine Rock, squeeze through the Lemon Squeezer (all caves can be bypassed). Nature Garden, geological displays, free parking, picnic area. RATES: $7 adult; $4 children 6-12; under 6 free with adult. SEASON: May 11-Oct. 20 (weather permitting)

White Mountain Motorsports Park
Rt. 3, N. Woodstock 745-6727. SEE EXCITING STOCK CAR RACING every Saturday night at 6:00pm on the quarter mile asphalt track. Five action packed divisions include Late Models, Super Streets, Strictly Stock and Mini-Stocks. Self-contained campers welcome; no fee. Many full-service campgrounds nearby. RATES: Regular events - adults $9, children under 12 $2. SEASON: April through October.
